About.,
Mark and Christine Landis lived off-grid in the mountains of Eastern Washington for 6 years. They named their property Cherith Brook, taken from 1 Kings 17:3 & 4 from the Bible. This is where God told Eijah to go to the Brook Cherith and hide. The ravens fed him twice a day and the brook supplied his water. God didn't just provide protection to Elijah, he supplied his daily needs as well. Just as God supplied for Elijah, He supplied for Mark and Christine, too. After much prayer and seeking direction from the Lord, a door opened for their family to move to the mountains and start a ministry for burned out pastors, missionaries, and fellow believers in Christ. It became a place of refuge for their family and for many others who would venture up the rocky, snow-filled hills. They learned a lot about trusting God wholeheartedly and learning to depend on Him for all their needs, physical, mental, and spiritual. Christine wrote a book called Beautiful Dependence about their adventures and how she became set free of things in her past. After that time on the mountain, another door opened and God was preparing them for a major life change. They were asked to move to Mexico and continue their hospitality of loving on and encouraging others in their walk with God. Christine began teaching at a homeschool co-op for the missionary children living in Mexico. She also helped their daughter, Storm, tutor the local high school students in English. Storm and Christine were part of a teaching circle at their church where they taught the Word of God at a women's Bible study. Mark was teaching and helping within the community. He was known as "The Big Pastor with a Big Heart" within the small town and was often asked to counsel and pray with people. Mark continues to do marital counseling and receives calls regularly to help in crisis situations. After two years in Mexico, they moved back to their property in Washington. They had a very short season of rest, and then things picked up dramatically. They have had an amazing time with guests coming to experience the great outdoors. Ministry continues as they share their life with others. Many parents have sent their teenagers to Cherith Brook to take part in and learn about appreciation, gratefulness, teamwork, and to experience a relationship with Christ, who gave His life for them. We are sharing Christ one person at a time. Its not about the numbers, its about being willing and building relationships with others and shining Christ for all to see. |

This is our daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Cole. They served in Mexico at an orphanage and after much prayer, felt like God was calling them back to the United States. They have been serving at Cherith Brook for the past few years. Cole is a huge help with our daily chores and our guests connect with him in a way that is remarkable. He leads our worship, teaches devotions, and heads up camping trips to educate men on outdoor survival, all the while tying Christ into the midst of the camping experience. Please pray for them as they continue to serve. They have three children - Felicity who is 3 years old, Nathaniel who is 2 years old, and little Eliana who was born in December. They are such a blessing to us!

Our son Mark Aaron lived in Mexico for nine months and saw God move in many ways. He moved to Cherith Brook so he can build a cabin and get discipled in the process. He continues to encourage others to keep fighting the fight for truth. He and Rebecca, who has been with us for four years, got married in September 2023! They had their first child in June named Gracelyn. Rebecca arrived in February 2020 searching for discipleship and fellowship. She dropped her net and joined our family and has been a tremendous asset to our ministry. She has a heart for children and is in charge of our VBS which includes Bible teaching, art, exploring, and good old-fashioned fun! She continues to grow in her knowledge of the Word.
